Hi there CCAS!

I am sending you a flat rate envelope with some photocopies of Larry Blake's adaptation of "The New Sons of Thunder" in the mail this weekend. We'd like your blessings and your help with this project.

Our goal is to produce copies of this book for the CCAS to distribute as freebies and giveaways at conventions and other ministry events.

Take a look at these, here are the first two pages of my scribble comic, followed by Larry Blake's version:

Isn't Larry's art awesome? Now, I'm not going to give up scribble drawing my stuff as a hobby, but I think Larry's art will impress conventioneers enough that some of them will give the story a chance.

Some things that need to be done are:
Ask for the CCAS' approval and endorsement
Ask the CCAS to write a Gospel invitation along with CCAS contact information for the back cover.

I was hoping to ask Joey Endres to handle the printing, and can handle the cost of a couple hundred copies every twice a year. I may need some help getting the original art made into 300 JPEG PDF files, but will check with the local copy shop and see if they can do it.

I hope that the CCAS will accept the Blake/Lee "The New Sons of Thunder" comic, after you've had a chance to take a look at it. Larry just contacted me yesterday and said he was willing to work on more stories, so tentatively we will have the next story 'Profit of Doom'(AO 124, the Deth Vangelist story) ready by early next year.

God bless you all, and the CCAS!
Gerry Lee

I think this is a great idea, Gerry. Let me ask what the rest of the Board thinks...

Hey, Board, what do you think?

Sure sound like a winner to me!! I am for it!

ooppss... I'm not a board member anymore... well, I would go for it! Take that for what it's worth!

As a Aside... since I see (Dell) new laptops down to $499 and complete systems down to $449, maybe we could all chip in a few bucks and buy Larry Blake a computer so we can finally get him online? Just a wild idea....

Interestingly, I've been thinking this exact same thing. My friend gave me a second hand computer that I'm told is old but quite functional, (I just had it serviced) and I was thinking about giving it to Larry. But if you guys want to all chip in and buy him a new system, I'll chip in for that instead. Henry, you be in charge of the 'Get Larry online project, 'kay?' Smile

Gerry

P.S. Thanks you guys for the encouragement about the NSOT printing project:)

Now THAT'S funny, too... our company has started upgrading their computers and they were talking about selling the old ones off (complete systems) for $50.00. Like yours, old but they did the job. So I thought about that for Larry first.

The only reason I thought new for Larry was that the unit would come complete (we'd have to find him a good virus protection/firewall) since I am not in a position to go and set his system up for him.

I am flexible... we could go with your system Gerry... it would just have to be true 'plug and play'.

P.S. Does he have a computer since he does print out a lot of his A-O pages and just needs the modem?

Hi Henry,

I'm going to mail Larry a letter tomorrow, and will ask him if he has a computer or not. I would call him, but I have the phone personality of dryer lint:(

A new system might be best, I don't have a manual for the computer I was thinking about sending him, and I would've had to have bought a monitor anyway. I'll send you a PM to talk more about this in detail.

God bless you all:)
Gerry

Money might be an issue. Once you get a free computer, you still have to pay for Internet service. EXCEPT...I'm still free on Netzero! Well, it's only ten hours free a month, but it IS free! I do most of my Forum stuff and Web browsing at work, but it is very nice to be able to send myself something to or from home!
